Modest Handmaidens will be closed the week of July 6-10th. You may still place orders during that time and they will be processed and shipped upon return from our family vacation.

What is "Camp Still Meadows"?
Camp Still Meadows serves children and adults with intellectual and/or physical disabilities from Harrisonburg, Rockingham and surrounding areas. Tucked in the mountains of the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, we provide a wide range of therapeutic activities incorporating the incredible power of nature.
Animals have a unique and special way of touching the lives of persons with disabilities. Therapeutic horseback riding improves cognitive and physical skills through interaction with horses and volunteers.
We call this God’s Camp starting from a vision in 1997 and we continue to grow on faith. Because we do not depend on county, state, or federal aid, we must depend on the support of our neighboring community and donations.
A Note from Modest Handmaidens...
Spring 2009 Health Update
At the beginning of 2008 (Jan), after a broken ankle incident, a condition called RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy) that the doctors have little understanding of, triggered a malfunctioning in my sympathetic nervous system. Praise the Lord, I have regained some mobility with the assistance of a cane. However, I continue to struggle with pain and related health issues, and the doctors have diagnosed Fibromyalgia as an additional contributing factor.
We gratefully and humbly thank you for your continuing prayers and notes of encouragement....they are greatly appreciated! We would like to thank each one of our customers for your patience, for any delay in responding to email or shipping, (we make every effort to process and ship within 2 business days)

The Lord has blessed our family ministry 'Modest Handmaidens' through our 3rd year ... Modest Handmaidens offers modest living resources & products for sisters with a heart's desire to live modestly.
2008 was a challenging year due to health issues. There were many occasions when we considered the closing of MH. We will continue to prayerfully seek the Lord's direction and purpose for'Modest Handmaidens' as we go through 2009. Our desire and committment is to be sensitive and obedient to the Lord's will and leading in our lives, and our family business/ministry.
We continue to carry a wide selection of modest sewing patterns,wonderful character building material & womens' studies, sewing curriculum & sewing kits, as well as a variety of handwork, aromatherapy products and natural living home and feminine care products.
Modesty, Virtue, Purity and the need to teach young girls to be keepers of the home, continues to be impressed upon our hearts, so we are excited to offer resources to encourage growth in those areas....modest sewing patterns, beginner sewing kits, and quality books for women,young handmaidens/homeschoolers.

Our gifted seamstresses offer a selection of ready made, quality, handsewn modest, feminine garments & headcoverings that reflect a "meek and quiet spirit which is in the sight of God a great price" (1 Peter 3:3,4). All garments are professionally sewn and seams are finished with an overlock serger(unless otherwise noted).
